Our Conservation Projects

Dedicated to wildlife conservation

Working with state or local agencies, we sponsor, assist and support on-the-ground conservation initiatives. Through our efforts, we hope to demonstrate the constructive role that hunting and hunters play in the conservation of biodiversity at home and around the world.

Virginia Predator Prey Project

The Virginia Predator Prey Project is researching the predator-prey dynamics between coyotes, bobcats, white-tailed deer, and now with the help of SCI Foundation, black bears. SCI-MABC, along with other area SCI Chapters, has contributed to the Virginia Predator-Prey Project which is being conducted by the Virginia Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation along with Virginia Tech. Their aim is to collar black bears and study the impact of white-tail numbers with the growing numbers of bears in the region. You can keep an eye on this project by going to First For Hunters on the web.

Suburban Whitetail Management : - Mid-Atlantic Bowhunters Chapter

Suburban Whitetail Management

MABC’s contributions to the Suburban Whitetail Management group helps provide a safe and effective deer management service that will reduce and maintain the whitetail deer population to an ecologically balanced and healthy level. They also educate the public about the role of bowhunting as a safe and effective deer management tool, thereby promoting a positive image of bowhunting and bowhunters.
